Center for young talents, Burgas announces a competition on "The colors of my Black Sea"

Objectives of the competition:

  • The competition is organized on the occasion of the International Black Sea Day;
  • Its goal is to draw the attention of Burgas children and youth to the beauty of our sea, but also to focus on the global problem - its pollution with plastic waste.

Conditions for participation and regulations of the competition:

  • Participants - children from Burgas and the region aged 7 to 19 years;

Categories:

1. Story

  • unpublished so far;
  • maximum volume - 1 printed page;
  • formatting requirements: A4 format, font and size Times New Roman 12;
  • official language: Bulgarian.

2. Poster

  • drawing, photo collage, other means of expression;
  • there are no restrictions on the materials used.


Age groups:

Children and students in the following age groups can participate in the competition:

  • 1st group - from 7 to 9 years
  • 2nd group - from 10 to 13 years
  • 3rd group - from 14 to 19 years

Application:

  • Deadline for submission of works: October 31, 2021
  • The competition works are sent to the e-mail: info@forbgkids.org or are sent to the address Burgas, 4 Atanas Sirekov Square (opposite the Municipality of Burgas) for the Center for Young Talents. 
  • Each work must be sent with: full name of the participant; age; city, school; current telephone and e-mail address (in case the participant is under 18, the telephone number and e-mail of a parent / guardian are indicated);

Applicants who do not meet the above conditions will not be admitted.

The competition is an idea and initiative of the young people from the Eco Club "Blue Researchers", studying under the project "Implementation of measures to reduce marine litter in Burgas Bay" under the program OOSKP, funded by the EEA FM 2014-2021.

More than 60 students from different high schools in Burgas applied for the "Chance for the Talent of Burgas" campaign of the "Chance for Children and Nature of Bulgaria" Foundation on the occasion of its tenth anniversary. 41 of them received the opportunity to study for free in the only European certified center for work with talented children, Center for Young Talents, Burgas. Alumni of AEG "Geo Milev", PPMG "Acad. N. Obreshkov", GRE "GS Rakovski", NEG "Goethe", "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" high school, "Bishop Konstantin Preslavski" high school, NUMSI "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov", PGCHE "Vasil Levski", High School in Trade, Professional High School of Computer Programming and Innovation are among the talents who have already begun to upgrade their knowledge and skills in the field of creative writing, Bulgarian language and literature, fine and applied art, fashion design, theater, computer science and new technologies, project leadership and management.

At the invitation of the Foundation, the initiative was supported by the Municipality of Burgas, which will finance the education of two of the talented children. Vesela Efremova, 16, from AEG "Geo Milev", who is involved in the Art Project "Palettes" led by Zlatka Koeva, and Stefania Ganeva, 16, from GRE "GSRakovski" are chosen at random. - in the theater studio "Homo ludens - the playing man" with director Simeon Dimitrov. The training of all other 39 young people is provided free of charge by the Chance for Children and Nature of Bulgaria Foundation.

Among the most prominent finalists of the campaign are talents with numerous awards and distinctions: Denitsa Mladenova, 15, from GRE "G. S. Rakovski" and Elisaveta Larionova, 16, from AEG "Geo Milev" with distinctions in the field of fine arts. ; Stanislav Iliev, 18, from "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" high school and Siyana Zhelezarova, 14, from Geo Milev AEG - in the field of creative writing; Alexander Gerasimov, 16, from NUMSI "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov", with many awards and performances in the field of theater.

The young people from the eco club "Blue Researchers" at the Center for Young Talents, Burgas, challenge everyone who loves the native sea, with a competition on the occasion of October 31 - International Black Sea Day.

The theme is "Colors of my Black Sea", and its purpose is to use the means of art and literature to show the beauty of our sea, but also to focus on the serious problem of its pollution and to provoke more ecological thinking and behavior in adolescents and society as a whole.

The competition is open to young people from Burgas and the region aged 7 to 19 in three age groups 7-9 years; 10-13 years; 14-19 years, and the categories are story and poster, with no restrictions on the materials and techniques used.

The deadline for sending the works is 31.10.2021, and the winners in each age group will be announced on 05.11.2021. More information about the conditions of the competition can be found HERE.

The Chance for Children and Nature of Bulgaria Foundation is already part of the Eurodesk network and will be one of the info points in the country, where experts will provide information and consultations to all interested young people between 13 and 30 from the city and the region.

The Foundation also organizes a video competition on the topic: "My city of Burgas - What would I show to Europe?" for young people from 13 to 30 years, with a deadline of 22.10.2021. Burgas is a city that gave birth to many talents and left a golden mark in our country literature, theater, cinema, music and fine arts. On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of its establishment, the only center in Bulgaria for working with young talents in the city of Burgas will award its most outstanding graduates. The official event will take place on June 23, 2021 (Wednesday) from 18:00 in the NHK Cultural Center.

The main activity of the Center for Young Talents is the discovery and development of the gifts and interests of children and young people both through advanced and upgrading education, and through the awarding of individual prizes and scholarships. This year, the talented artist Elena Mazneva and one of the world's best young mathematicians Lachezar Tomov will receive cash prizes, giving them a chance to participate and make new appearances in international forums in their chosen fields. Three other talented children will have the opportunity to study for free at the Center during the new academic year 2021/2022.

The finalists of the third and only mathematical tournament "Mnogoznayko" for preschool children will be awarded. The young mathematicians will receive medals and diplomas for their excellent performance in the competition, and the organizers have provided for them treats provided by the confectionery "Zaharo", Burgas.

Prizes will be awarded to the most outstanding students in the field of informatics from the VI Regional Olympiad in Informatics, and the prize fund for them is provided by TechnoLogica EAD.

The celebration will pass under the magic of folk music with the performances of the children's folklore formation "Zelenika" at the Center for Young Talents led by Maria Markova-Halacheva, and the alumni of the theater studio "Homo ludens" led by Simeon Dimitrov will show the audience that through desire, effort, and talent a lot can be achieved in a very short time and despite the pandemic.
