  • The children from the Eco-club "Blue Researchers" collected over 840 liters of plastic waste during Saturday's beach cleaning on the beach in Burgas

On Saturday, May 29, the Chance for Children and Nature of Bulgaria Foundation and the Center for Young Talents, Burgas, organized a campaign to clean the beach near Sarafovo. Despite the rainy weather, the center's team and participants in the Blue Researchers Eco-Club, as well as several parents and passers-by, took an active part in the environmental initiative. As a result, more than 840 liters of plastic waste were collected and disposed of in designated areas.

"Chance for Children and Nature of Bulgaria Foundation" has long declared a "war" on plastic waste. Plastic is a huge environmental and health problem. Getting into the soil and water, it is transferred to our food, which is harmful to our health.", commented Pepa Nikolova, PR of the foundation.

The children participating in the Blue Researchers eco-club at the Center for Young Talents called on us not to pollute the beach, because, as nine-year-old Boris Dzhelepov shared, "it is ours and we must keep it clean." And Alexandra Popova, 17, added: "It is important to collect our waste separately, because our planet is not a garbage can. We all live in a symbiosis, just as we need our nature, so it needs us to keep it clean and beautiful. "

The initiative is part of the activities of the project "Implementation of measures to reduce marine litter in the Burgas Bay" of the program OOSKP, funded by the EEA FM 2014-2021, in which the Foundation partners with the Municipality of Burgas.
